The Alumni Association was founded on May 16, 1950, three weeks before King's College graduated its first class of 203 men. Jack Toole was elected the first president; Elmer "Tippy" Kozick, vice-president; Mario Dell'Aglio, second vice president; Rev. Clem Podskoch, third vice president; Robert Ell, corresponding secretary; Ed Siberski, recording secretary; and Herman Bozentka, treasurer. Two weeks later college administrators appointed Bob Ell "Alumni Secretary" and the Alumni Office was established. Bob Ell became a face well known by alumni far and wide as he served the association for 42 years, retiring in 1992. Rev. George DePrizio, C.S.C. was appointed the first Alumni Chaplain in December 1950.

In the winter of 1952 the association launched its first fund drive, raising $515. In 1953 the association unanimously voted to raise funds for the construction of a statue of Christ the King. This statue would stand atop the new administration building, per the vision of then president, Rev. Leo Flood, C.S.C., overlooking the entire Wyoming Valley.

The Annual Alumni Phonathon was established in the fall of 1975, which marked the 25th graduating class of King's College. Since then the Phon-a-thon has become a "Giving Tradition" which has raised nine million dollars.

Louise Wasserott '75 returned to King's as Associate Alumni Director in 1990. She was named Director of Alumni Relations in January, 1996, in time to assist with the planning of the college's 50th Anniversary. The Alumni Office today continues the Alumni Phonathon tradition as well as planning for Homecomings, Reunions and gatherings across the country. Although the formal Alumni Association disbanded in the late 1980's, the Alumni Office is still the first place alumni call or email for information or to offer suggestions or to make contact with other alumni.
